The urban is the main subject : "ZEROPOLIS" *, it’s " to Build the City " and to build the city introduces the action, leads consequently the idea of the temporality. Paradoxically "to build" sends back to a picture of the order of the solid. The pictures selected by Mortar go to this sense when he takes for subject the elements of construction site which allow to build really the city: perpends, cranes, cockpits of construction sites. Aerial views as for them dilute the physical presence of the city and direct us to something more mental. We return to the virtual. Had we ever left it when in the city building itself lives always an unreal part? A sensation of dizziness seizes us in front of his canvas, where everything seems to be linked : the piles of perpends look like buildings raised toward the sky. And seen by above these last ones could be supposed to be electronic circuits.
